Our Story

Driftless Land Management grew out of a desire to help private landowners achieve their goals for the land they care about.  As landowners ourselves, we understand the opportunities and challenges that come with stewarding land.

My passion for the outdoors started as a boy, growing up along the Fox River, exploring it and the surrounding marshes. I became a keen observer of natural processes while learning to fish and hunt. I have now spent 25 years working professionally, for landowners and private industry, in the field of conservation since graduating from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point with a degree in natural resource management and fisheries. Throughout this time, I’ve had the opportunity to care for thousands of acres of land across many different landscapes and habitats.

In 2011, my dreams of becoming a landowner came true. In the decade-plus of ownership, my wife and I have tackled many projects, including erosion control, stream improvement, pond creation, prairie establishment, timber stand improvement, timber harvesting, invasive species management, prescribed burning, and more. Our combination of training, professional careers, and learning from that land and others has given us the “toolbox” to care for our own land and other properties.

The land also provides the opportunity to know where our food comes from. We raise our own grass-fed beef, pork, and eggs and have two large gardens each season. We also love to recreate on the land through hiking, hunting, and re-discovering it through the eyes of our daughter.

All this to say, our life is in conservation, and we want to share our expertise with you. Driftless Land Management will help you to succeed efficiently and effectively in your projects, so you can spend more time enjoying your land.
